Following improvements in water conditions, Warrumbungle Shire Council has lifted water restrictions for Coonabarabran. The decision comes after over 7 months of water restrictions due to depleting water levels in Timor Dam and insufficient rainfall in the dam's catchment area along with the lack of sufficient flows in the Castlereagh River. Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan, expressed relief on behalf of residents, "After being on water restrictions for over 7 months, lifting the water restrictions in Coonabarabran is a great relief for residents." "While there are no longer water restrictions in any of the towns in the Local Government Area, we urge the community to remain mindful of water conservation practices," Cr Doolan emphasised. "Conserving water supplies remains crucial to ensuring sustained availability, particularly during dry periods." Residents are encouraged to visit the Council's website for suggestions of practical tips and strategies aimed at conserving water at home and in local businesses.
