Water Meter Replacement Program Continues - Coonabarabran and Mendooran

The rollout of new water meters across the Warrumbungle Shire local government area will continue in Coonabarabran and Mendooran over the coming months.

“As part of a three-year Shire wide project, the replacement of water meters in Coonabarabran and Mendooran is underway,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “The new meters are replacing old equipment that has reached its end of life.”

“The new meters help to ensure that water usage is accurately measured. As seen in the recent drought, it is increasingly critical that water usage is correctly monitored.”

“With the new meters, water usage reads will be more accurate, allowing residents to understand their household usage better and Council to track water usage trends in each town.”

“As the meters become older they have a tendency of not reading as accurately and in fact tend to read slower, thus under reporting water usage”, said Cr Doolan.

“Over the coming weeks your water meter will likely get replaced. There is expected to be around 50 water meters replaced in Mendooran and 200 in Coonabarabran,” Cr Doolan concluded.
