Water Meter Replacement Program – Baradine and Binnaway

The last stage of a water meter replacement program will be undertaken in Baradine and Binnaway over the coming few weeks.

“As part of a three-year Shire wide water meter replacement project, the replacement of water meters in Baradine and Binnaway has commenced,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “Meter replacements have already been completed in Coonabarabran, Coolah, Dunedoo and Mendooran, with Baradine and Binnaway the last stage of this project.”

Over the coming weeks for Council’s staff will be going to properties that are scheduled for a replacement water meter. Around 100 meters will be replaced in Binnaway and 160 in Baradine.

“With the new meters, water usage reads will be more accurate, allowing residents to understand their household usage better and Council to track water usage trends in each town.”

“In some instances, if residents’ old meters have been under reporting water usage and a new meter is installed, the resident may notice an increase in the water usage component of their water rates”, Cr Doolan explained.

This project is part of Council’s 2020/21 and 2021/2022 Capital Expenditure plan.
