Water Meter Replacement Program

A new water meter replacement program is being rolled out across the Warrumbungle Shire that will improve the monitoring and measurement of water usage throughout.

“In the current climate it is increasingly critical that water usage is accurately monitored”, said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Denis Todd. “In order to do so, Council is undertaking a water meter replacement program in addition to the replacement of meters that are identified as malfunctioning after each quarterly read.”

The replacement program aims to replace approximately one third of the water meters throughout the Warrumbungle Local Government Area.

“Binnaway and Mendooran can expect 100 new meters in each town. Dunedoo, Coolah and Baradine will see 160 new meters in each town and Coonabarabran around 400 new meters”, said Cr Todd.

“With the new meters, water usage reads will be more accurate, allowing residents to understand their household usage better and Council to track water usage trends in each town.”

“In some instances, if residents’ old meters have been under reporting water usage and a new meter is installed, the resident may notice an increase in the water usage component of their water rates”, Cr Todd explained.

“You may have already spotted the Warrumbungle Water team out and about replacing the meters. The rollout will continue for several months.”
