The water mains replacement program is in full swing with these works set to improve the water supply system in towns across the Shire. “As part of the Water Mains Replacement Program, sections of water mains in Cassilis Street, Coonabarabran and Scully Street, Coolah are in their final stages of works for this financial year,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council, Mayor Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “This section of water main forms part of the Warrumbungle Water’s capital works program.” “Following investigation these water main pipelines were identified for replacement as part of the Capital Expenditure Program and with these upgrades and using these new materials Council will ensure that this water main will be able to service their communities into the future,” said Cr Doolan. “Council has once again committed a substantial budget in the new financial year for 2022/2023 to continue to address the water supply issues caused by the ageing pipes throughout the reticulation systems in all towns across the Shire,” said Cr Doolan. $850,000 has been committed in the 2022/23 Capital Expenditure budget specifically for mains replacements across the Shire. Replacements will include, and will target, areas prone to main breaks as well as any old cast iron pipes that will be replace with PVC pipes. This will improve water supply and mains durability for communities across the Shire. Community members that may experience supply interruptions throughout these works will be notified via door knock, either on the morning of the works or on the previous day prior to works commencing. “Council thanks the residents of Warrumbungle Shire for its patience and cooperation during these works,” Cr Doolan concluded.
