Water infrastructure upgrades for Coolah

Coolah water infrastructure will be upgraded with the installation of new water treatment room that will treat the bore water at the town well site.

“A new and potable chlorine gas disinfection room for water treatment is set to be installed at the Coolah Bore site, aiming to improve water safety in Coolah,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “The new room features a number of safety features and will control water disinfection more effectively.”

Funding from Infrastructure NSW has been obtained to cover part of the projects cost.

The new building will be originally set at the Coolah Bore site but this structure can be moved to the reservoir site for disinfection of both the main bore supply from the town well site and the back-up bore supply at Neilrex Road.

“Having such a flexible and reliable water treatment site which can be moved will allow for safe and effective water disinfection where needed in the Coolah township,” said Cr Doolan.

A request for quotation has previously been issues and a successful contractor has been appointed for the project to build the self-contained fully enclosed potable Chlorine Dosing Room off-site.

“Thank you to Infrastructure NSW for funding part of this much needed water infrastructure project,” Cr Doolan concluded.

The build part of this project was set to be completed late last year with the new asset scheduled for installation and commissioning early 2022
