In a remarkable achievement, Warrumbungle Community Care’s Volunteer Drivers have been awarded the Orana Volunteer Team of the Year at the prestigious NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards held today. Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor Councillor Kathryn Rindfleish, expressed pride in the volunteers’ accomplishments, “It was a wonderful surprise for our team to win this prestigious award. This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our volunteers who go above and beyond to support our community. Their commitment to ensuring that our most vulnerable residents have access to vital services is truly inspiring.” The awards celebrate the tireless efforts of volunteers across the state, highlighting their immense contributions to their communities. This year, the event was hosted by The Centre for Volunteering, marking the 18th year of recognising the selfless work of thousands of individuals and teams. “Warrumbungle Community Care’s Volunteer Drivers cover an impressive 12,500 square kilometers, completing 6,852 trips in the past year alone. They have dedicated 4,575 hours to transport elderly residents and individuals with disabilities to essential services, including medical appointments, shopping, and social activities, while also providing invaluable companionship,” Cr Rindfleish explained. The NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards aim to celebrate and promote the importance of volunteering across New South Wales, with nominees from various sectors and organisations. In honor of this achievement, Warrumbungle Community Care will be hosting a celebration to recognise the contributions of their volunteers. “This award is for our Volunteers and all the hard work and hours they put into supporting our community,” concluded Cr Rindfleish. The Awards are proudly supported by the NSW Department of Communities and Justice and ClubsNSW, underlining the importance of community engagement and volunteerism in building strong, resilient communities.
