Warrumbungle Community Care needs your help

Interested in giving back to the community, making a difference and meeting new people? Sign up now to volunteer with Warrumbungle Community Care.

“Warrumbungle Community Care provides valuable services such as social support, community transport and meals to our community members in need, and they are dependent on volunteers to assist,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “It is vital for all of us to work together and take a holistic approach to support our communities, and support our invaluable volunteers.”

“Volunteer drivers for Community Care’s Community Transport program are needed in all towns. Community Transport provides a vital link to medical appointments and social services for a number of people in our regional communities that otherwise may not be able to access those services,” said Cr Doolan.

According to Volunteering Australia Data, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, two out of three volunteers (69.5%) stopped volunteering, equating to an estimated loss of 12.2 million hours per week across Australia.

Now restrictions are lifting Warrumbungle Community Care is calling on community members to sign up and volunteer.

All volunteers will undergo a criminal history check, medical, and Drivers Licence check. Community Care staff are happy to assist with these, and will explain the whole process to new volunteers. Volunteering hours are flexible.

“If you know of someone who would like to assist and volunteer some time to giving back to our wonderful communities please get in touch with the Warrumbungle Community Care Team,” concluded Cr Doolan.
