Small Heritage Grants 2021 – Applications Now Open

Do you own one of the many heritage listed items or buildings within the Warrumbungle Shire? Now is the time to apply for funding to repair or restore these wonderful pieces of heritage.

“Funding for the Small Heritage Grants 2021 is now opened and Council is inviting owners of heritage items or buildings to apply,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “These buildings provide an important snap shot of our past and the grants provide dollar for dollar funding to carry out repairs and restoration works to keep these buildings alive.”

“The grant program has aided many incredible projects throughout the Shire. Past works that have received grant funding through this program include external and internal painting of heritage buildings, repairs to roof and gutters, repairs to internal walls and roof, as well as a contribution towards a full restoration,” said Cr Doolan.

Council offers the Small Heritage Grants program in conjunction with the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage and Heritage NSW.

The funding will refund up to 50% of the cost of the works up to a maximum of $1,000 per property, subject to the number of applications received. Applications where the owner’s contribution is in the form of labour and/or materials rather than cash will be considered.

Applications are now open and will close Tuesday 31 August 2021. Successful applicants will be notified by October 2021. Successful applicants will need to have the proposed works to be completed by 1 May 2022 for refunds to be processed.

“These grants are a great opportunity for our communities. Keeping these historic building alive and part of our community moving into the future is important,” said Cr Doolan.

“Council is encouraging anyone with heritage buildings who are wanting to undertake repair works to ensure that the integrity of the heritage building remains, to apply now,” Cr Doolan concluded.

Application forms and guidelines are available on Council’s website under the Planning and Department then Local Heritage tab or at Council’s Administration Offices.
