Shop Local This Christmas 2022

With Christmas just around the corner now more than ever is a time to shop local. Let’s support our own retailers this year.

“Our region has been hit with a multitude of unprecedented events over the past couple of years. From the drought, to the mouse plague, a pandemic and storms our local economy has taken a hit. Let’s come together as a community and help out where we can by purchasing gifts locally,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “There isn’t a better gift to give this Christmas than to give back to our own region.”

The Warrumbungle Region has a fantastic range of businesses from flower arrangements, clothes, distilleries, cheeses, pickles and jams, meats, arts and crafts, just to name a few. There are also gift vouchers that can be purchased at hardware stores, cafés and pubs, beauty and hair salons, accommodation and other services.

Other options might be to donate to local charities or community groups, pick up a voucher for an experience or wellbeing program or subscribe to a local publication, there is plenty to choose from.

“It’s more important than ever to remember that by shopping locally you’re contributing directly to our local community allowing the money to go straight into each local town and village benefiting the entire Shire,” said Cr Doolan.

“Encouraging residents and visitors to shop locally and support our local services and businesses in the Warrumbungle Shire this holiday season will be the greatest gift for our region,” concluded Cr Doolan.
