Sewer mains re-lining works across the Shire

Improvements are set for sections of the sewer mains infrastructure in Coonabarabran, Coolah and Dunedoo.

“Crews from the contractor, Interflow have been working in Coonabarabran, Coolah and Dunedoo re-lining selected sections of Council’s sewer mains infrastructure,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor Ambrose Doolan. “These re-lining works are set to improve and increase the lifespan of the sewer mains without any mechanical excavation to physically replace the mains.”

“The community will see further benefits of these works as they will prevent sewer main blockages and overflows in these re-lined areas by stopping foreign matter such as tree roots and silt entering through cracks and deformations caused in the pipeline due to its age, material and natural ground movement.”

These re-lining works follow revision of asset condition assessments undertaken last year. During these investigation works, just over nine (9) kilometers of Council’s sewer mains infrastructure was deep cleaned and CCTV footage taken along the way.

“Cleaning and asset condition assessment works are important to enabled Council to identify numerous sections of sewer mains that required re-lining. Assessing water and sewer infrastructure is critical to maintain and improve the services for residents,” Cr Doolan explained.

These works are expected to be completed during August 2021. For further information on this project contact Warrumbungle Water on (02) 6849 2000.
