Service NSW Visit – Regional Seniors Travel Card

To assist seniors living in the Warrumbungle Shire area with meeting the costs of travel, Service NSW is bringing a mobile support service to Coonabarabran.

“Thanks to this visit from Service NSW, seniors in the Warrumbungle area will have direct access to information and applications for the Regional Seniors Travel Card,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “This is not a transaction that is available through the Service NSW Agencies that operate at councils, so it is great to see the service being brought out here.”

Seniors who receive support from either Services Australia or the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, and who live in regional, rural and remote NSW may be eligible to receive a Regional Seniors Travel Card. This is a $250 prepaid card to help ease the cost of travel.

“The cards can be used at selected retailers to pay for booked tickets on NSW Trainlink Regional trains and coaches, or fuel and taxis,” explained Cr Doolan.

“Travel is a part of life for many of us in the Warrumbungle area. I encourage our senior residents to come along to the Service NSW support session to find out more about the assistance that may be available to help meet the costs of travelling,” concluded Cr Doolan.

A Service NSW support vehicle will be located in the carpark next to the Coonabarabran Community Services building at 27-29 John Street on Thursday 11 March 2021 from 10:30am to 2:30pm.
