Planning Proposal – Reclassification of Land

Submissions are closing soon for the Planning Proposal relating to the reclassification of Council owned public land.

“This Planning Proposal relates to an amendment to the Warrumbungle Local Environmental Plan (LEP) 2013 to reclassify a number of Council facilities from Community land to Operational land to enable these lands to continue to be utilised for the purpose for which they were originally acquired,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “With submissions closing soon Council is encouraging the public to jump online have a look at the planning proposal and make a submission if necessary.”

“The planning proposal has been on public exhibition, and a Public Hearing has been arranged as required under Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979 and the Local Government Act 1993, which will be held at least 21 days after completion of the public exhibition of the Planning Proposal. The Public Hearing is chaired by an independent facilitator who then submits a report to Council identifying issues raised submissions from both the Public Exhibition and Public Hearing will then be presented to Council,” Cr Doolan explained.

The reclassification of public land is done by an amendment to Schedule 4 (Classification and reclassification of public land) of Warrumbungle LEP 2013 and is subject to both the local plan-making process in the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979 and the public land management requirements of the Local Government Act 1993.
