Outdoor Equipment and Skate Parks Reopened

Outdoor playground and exercise equipment and skate parks have reopened in response to the easing of COVID-19 restrictions.‚Äč

“Restrictions on outdoor playground equipment were eased in the latest NSW Public Health Order – COVID-19,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Denis Todd. “In line with this new advice, barriers have been removed from around outdoor equipment and skate parks. I am pleased to see these facilities reopened, but remind the community to maintain physical distancing and good hygiene when using the equipment.”

“The easing of the COVID-19 restrictions means children and adults have more opportunity to enjoy active recreation. Council maintains playground equipment in all six (6) towns and also maintains skate parks in Binnaway, Coonabarabran and Dunedoo. All of these facilities are now open,” said Cr Todd.

“The new skate park at Baradine is nearing completion. This will be a terrific community asset and we are looking forward to the community being able to start using it soon,” Cr Todd explained.

“Caution when using the equipment is still advised and this means washing hands with either soap and water or with hand sanitiser before and after use of the equipment. Where possible, playground equipment should be wiped down with sanitised wipes by the user and physical distancing measures need to be abided by,” said Cr Todd.

“The installation of hand sanitiser near every playground is currently being investigated and it is hoped that dispensers can be rolled out in coming days,” Cr Todd concluded.
