New Amenities for Robertson Oval is one Step Closer

With tenders to be called in the coming weeks construction of the new amenities building for Robertson Oval, Dunedoo is one step closer to the construction.

“The Robertson Oval Advisory Committee has been working hard on the new amenities project,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “It is great to see this project getting closer to fruition and once completed it will be an amazing asset for Dunedoo and surrounding areas.”

The Committee has spent the last 6 months providing advice to Council and to the design consultant on features required in the new amenities building.

“The existing building at Robertson Oval will be demolished to make way for a modern facility. It will include changing rooms for players and for the referee as well as seven (7) toilets, a verandah and a BBQ area and a new three (3) bay equipment storage shed,” Cr Doolan explained. “The two (2) existing toilets will stay in place to cater for those big event days.”

“To ensure everyone visiting the Robertson Oval Sporting Complex has a prime viewing platform of the various sporting fields, the new building will be elevated one (1) metre above ground level,” Cr Doolan said.

“It’s great to see this project develop, as the amenities building is part of a masterplan that was developed by the Committee and Council over 5 years ago. The masterplan included the now completed hardstand netball courts, lights and irrigation system, as well as the soon to be brand new amenities building,” concluded Cr Doolan.

The project is expected to cost $1.4m Council is contributing $125,000 towards the project and the remaining contribution is funded by a grant from the Australian Government under the Building Better Regions Fund.

Tenders for construction will be invited in February.
