MEDIA STATEMENT - Three Rivers Regional Retirement Community

Warrumbungle Shire Council continues to work through legal matters surrounding the Three Rivers Regional Retirement Community Project in Dunedoo following the termination of the contractor, Boulus Constructions, in August 2018.

In response to Council terminating the contract, the contractor instigated legal action, that continues to progress through the Supreme Court. The latest instructions from the Court seeks for the two parties to undertake mediation.

Initially, the mediation was set to occur in early July 2021; unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions it has been difficult to arrange a meeting whereby the two parties can mediate in person. A further date has now been set for the mediation to occur on 1 October 2021. Whilst not preferred, if COVID restrictions continue Council may be required to mediate via video link.

With the continuing legal processes surrounding the project, Council has been unable to move forward with the site and acknowledge the visual impacts the project is creating for the community of Dunedoo.

Council continues to hold regular discussions with both State and Federal Governments on the remaining project monies.

It is most disappointing for Council and the local Dunedoo community that this matter has not yet been resolved.
