Free I’M ALERT Food Safety Training

Is your small business ALERT to Food Safety? A new free training resource is now available to ensure everyone in the food industry is ALERT to the importance of Food Safety.

Council has subscribed to I’M ALERT Food Safety Training, allowing all small businesses across the Shire to access this resource for free.

“I’M ALERT is a food safety training program that gives small businesses and individuals who work in the food industry across the Shire an opportunity to get basic food handling training for free,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Denis Todd. “This is a great course for small businesses and individuals to have access to, ensuring staff are trained correctly to supply safe food to customers.”

The training involves an interactive online session that will assist people working in the food industry to get a solid foundation of the knowledge and skills needed to ensure compliance under the Food Safety Standard. Once the course is completed the participants will receive an acknowledgement of completion form.

“This course definitely does not replace the need for a food safety supervisor. However, it will give everyone working in a food shop a basic level of understanding of the importance of food safety when preparing and handling food,” Cr Todd explained.

“Council is encouraging everyone in the food industry to part take in this training. It is a great benefit for beginners and perfect for employees as a refresher course. The best thing for our small businesses is that this course is free,” Cr Todd concluded.

The course can be accessed via the following link www.warrumbungle.imalert.com.au
