Establishment of Warrumbungle Road Network Advisory Group

Warrumbungle Shire Council has established a Road Network Advisory Committee to help provide advice on road priorities for its road network and now is seeking expressions of interest from the community to join the Committee.

“The Warrumbungle Road Network Advisory Group is to represent the views, needs and expectations of the residents of the Warrumbungle Shire on strategic matters relating to the road network,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “This group will provide information and feedback to Council about the road hierarchy, level of service and road related policies for the road network.”

The advisory group to Council will meet quarterly regarding strategic matters relating to the road network.

“Recent representations to Council suggest that there has been historical road maintenance practises that have caused confusion and disquiet for some ratepayers and did not align with our official maintenance schedules,” said Cr Doolan.

“We have perhaps not been as good as we could have been in communicating what has been changed in the past and why. Through the establishment of a Road Network Advisory Group, hopefully we can change that engagement and improve what we do,” Cr Doolan explained.

Expressions of Interest (EOI) for Membership of the Warrumbungle Road Network Advisory Group is now open.

Nominations for the Committee may be made on a nomination form which is available on Council’s website, under the Have Your Say Tab or by contacting Personal Assistant to the Director Technical Services, Mrs Tracy Cain on 6849 2000. Nominations for membership of the Committee must be received by 4.00 pm on Thursday 8 September 2022 to info@warrumbungle.nsw.gov.au or PO Box 191, Coonabarabran NSW 2357.

“Council hopes that community members are willing to express interest in being part of this group, assisting Council with strategic matters relating to the road network across the Warrumbungle LGA,” Cr Doolan concluded.
