Coonabarabran Visitor Information Centre is reopening

“With the NSW Government easing COVID-19 travel restrictions from 1 June 2020, the VIC will reopen to provide support to the local tourism industry and welcome those who are travelling throughout our region,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Denis Todd.

In March 2020 the Coonabarabran VIC closed its doors to the public to comply with public health orders for COVID-19 restrictions. Since then, VIC staff have continued to answer email and phone enquiries, and have been provided with relevant information from local tourism operators and planning for an increase in local tourism when restrictions were lifted.

“Coonabarabran has been listed on various travel sites as one of the best locations to visit when travel restrictions are lifted, and we are looking forward to welcoming travellers to our region once again,” said Cr Todd.

The Coonabarabran VIC is located on the Newell Highway, Coonabarabran and as at 1 June 2020 will start trading from 9:00am till 5:00pm, 7 days a week.

“A number of safety measure have been put in place at the Coonabarabran VIC including sanitising stations, sneeze guards, social distance markers, and only a limited number of people will be able to enter the facility at one time. We appreciate customer’s understanding and patience throughout this time,” Cr Todd explained.

“The VIC staff and volunteers are very much looking forward to being able to open the doors and provide their services in a face to face environment once again,” Cr Todd concluded.
