Coonabarabran Driver Reviver set to undergo upgrades

The wheels are turning on upgrades for the Coonabarabran Driver Reviver, ensuring drivers stop, revive and survive.

“Funding has now been secured for over $100,000 worth of upgrades at the Coonabarabran Driver Reviver facility,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “This is great news for the town and all the travellers and motorists who travel through Coonabarabran.”

“Driver Reviver sites provide a safe place for drivers and their passengers to stop and have much-needed safety and fatigue breaks along their journey. Coonabarabran is situated on one of the major highways in NSW, this funding will allow the existing Driver Reviver location to undergo some much-needed upgrade to its amenities as well as installing new equipment,” Cr Doolan explained.

The proposed upgrades include; a new shelter, replacing and adding more tables and chairs, painting the volunteer hut, installing reverse cycle air-conditioning unit, and the installation of a solar powered automated water dispenser unit.

“These upgrades will allow more comfort and safety for all of the incredible volunteers who dedicate their time to keeping our motorists safe, including the Coonabarabran Girl Guides. Thank you for all the volunteers continuous hard work in extreme weather conditions, I’m sure these upgrades will be very welcomed and looked after,” said Cr Doolan.

“Thank you to the Australian Government for funding this wonderful project under the Road Safety Programs. Funding for such a project will make a big difference for the motorists travelling through as well as the community and will help tackle driver fatigue, making our roads safer,” Cr Doolan concluded.

Works have now commenced and are due to be completed throughout this year.
