Get ready to celebrate the season at Coolah’s Christmas Carnival & Parade on Saturday, 7 December! This year’s event is set to shine brighter than ever, thanks to a successful grant from Warrumbungle Shire Council as part of the Open Streets program, proudly funded by the NSW Government. “We’re thrilled to work alongside local businesses, artists, musicians, community groups, and residents to bring a festive program that truly captures the spirit of Coolah,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Kathryn Rindfleish. “Binnia Street will be closed to traffic for the parade, allowing the community to come together and enjoy market stalls, interactive workshops, art and light installations, children’s activities, and delicious food.” The Open Streets Program aims to bring local streets to life by hosting vehicle-free events, boosting local economies, and fostering stronger community connections. In partnership with the Coolah Lions Club, the Council invites you to join in the celebration, featuring a dazzling parade, lively entertainment, Christmas market stalls, and a special visit from Santa Claus. This year’s Coolah Christmas Carnival & Parade features some exciting new highlights. Experience the magic of the Giant Inflatable Bilby, where you can join in interactive storytelling with this lovable character. Be amazed by the Illuminart Lightshow, showcasing a stunning display of local wildlife, children’s artwork, and fireworks. Get creative at the Lantern Making workshop in the afternoon, and then proudly showcase your lantern in the evening parade. Watch local artist Zac Craig bring Coolah’s flora and fauna to life with a live mural painting. Enjoy the sounds of Where’s Dave, a talented local band, and participate in free workshops on floral arrangements with Emma Pettet or creating Christmas decorations with Makers Space. Admire the Giant Animal Lanterns, which will light up the parade with their intricate designs inspired by Coolah’s native fauna. The evening will conclude in a breathtaking fireworks display, lighting up the sky to cap off a night full of festive fun. Don’t miss out on this day full of holiday cheer, community spirit, and unforgettable memories! Returning to the event are many beloved favourites that are sure to delight all ages. Indulge in delicious offerings from the food stalls, featuring BBQs, hot dogs, and treats from Ma Baker’s van. Try your luck at the Chocolate Wheel for a chance to win festive prizes like hams and Christmas cakes. Shop for unique gifts and support local businesses at the retail stalls. Children can meet Santa and receive a special gift bag, while enjoying free face painting for a bit of extra holiday cheer. The Jumping Castle offers hours of fun for the little ones, and the competitive spirit will be high at the Kevie Cup, where you can cheer on local rugby players and netballers in a friendly match.
