Congratulations to our new School-Based Traineeships

Three new school-based trainees have been welcomed into Warrumbungle Council’s School Based Traineeship program to undertake qualifications in Business Administration, Supply Chain Operations and Accounts Administration.

Our commitment to providing ongoing opportunities for youth within the Shire will allow these new recruits to undertake study and gain hands on practical experience over the next two years.

“School-Based Traineeships are one of the best ways to ensure local students have a successful transition from school to work or further study,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “They are a great opportunity for local students to gain on-the-job experience and a nationally accredited, industry recognised qualification while completing their Higher School Certificate.”

“Council advertised a range of School-Based Trainee opportunities in late 2021 and a merit-based selection process was completed before offering the school-based traineeships to the three students,” said Cr Doolan.

“These trainees will be spending one day per week working for Council for the next two years while they complete a recognised qualification as part of their Higher School Certificate studies.”

“This new cohort joins Council’s three existing School Based Trainees who have now commenced their second and final year. The program aims to improve future employment opportunities for students, both locally and further afield.”

“Congratulations again to our three successful applicants,” concluded Cr Doolan.
