Community Heritage Strategy 2021-2024

The new Community Heritage Strategy 2021-2024 to guide the strategic approach for the management of heritage has been adopted by the Warrumbungle Council.

“The Community Heritage Strategy will be the foundation over the next few years to guide and shape the strategic approach for the management of heritage across the Warrumbungle Local Government Area (LGA),” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “The Heritage Strategy defines a number of objectives and actions and makes recommendations to help identify, protect, manage and promote heritage.”

The Draft Community Heritage Strategy 2021-2024 went on public exhibition late 2021, giving the community an opportunity to have their say on this strategy which will shape the heritage aspects of the entire Shire. Council adopted the revised Heritage Strategy at the April Ordinary Council meeting.

Throughout the Community Heritage Strategy there are nine (9) recommendations for local government heritage management that have been reviewed and utilised for the heritage items across the Warrumbungle Shire.

“Council embraces and appreciates the importance of heritage management across the Shire and aids in meeting any statutory obligations and the community's expectations for the conservation of the Shire's heritage places in the coming years,” Cr Doolan concluded.
