Community and Council Plans on Exhibition

Key planning documents looking ahead to the next 15 years are on display and community feedback is invited.

“The Community Strategic Plan 2022-2027, the Delivery Program 2022-2026, and the Operational Plan 2022/23 together make up a significant part of the strategic and financial planning that councils undertake,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “These three items are all now out on exhibition, which is a great opportunity for community members to directly get involved in planning for our future and have a say on the drafts.”

“The Community Strategic Plan is the highest-level plan that a council prepares, it guides all other strategies and plans and must be developed by councils with and on behalf of the community” said Cr Doolan.

“The Delivery Program takes the strategies from the Community Strategic Plan and turns them into actions that Council will commit to over the next four years,” explained Cr Doolan. “The Operational Plan is also known as the budget, and shows every activity of Council for the next year.”

“The Operational Plan and Delivery Program outline some great new projects, important maintenance and upgrades, and one of the biggest works programs undertaken recently with $21m earmarked for capital projects,” said Cr Doolan.

Highlights of the 2022/23 Draft Operational Plan Budget, including some of the capital works program along with other maintenance items are:
• Roads Improvement and Renewal – Local ($2.6m) and Regional ($1.9m).
• Plant and Equipment Improvement and Renewal – ($2.2m).
• Urban Services including Town Streets related works (Includes trees/gardens, footpaths, kerb and gutter, drainage, pavements), Ovals, Parks, Swimming Pools and other amenities improvements – ($3m).
• Improvements to Council Offices and Other Property, Public Halls and Cemetery Equipment Improvements – ($2.2m)
• Tourism and Development related improvements – ($750k).
• Rural Fire Services Vehicles and Enhancements – ($1.4m).
• Water ($4.1m), Sewer ($4.3m) and Waste Services ($50k) capital related improvements.

The draft documents are available on Council’s website under the Have Your Say tab. Hard copies are also available at the Council offices in Coolah and Coonabarabran. Submissions may be made online under the Have Your Say tab, or by email to info@warrumbungle.nsw.gov.au, or in writing to The General Manager, PO Box 191, Coonabarabran, NSW, 2357. Submissions close Tuesday, 19 April 2022.

“All community members are encouraged to get involved, have a look over these important planning documents and have their say on the drafts,” Cr Doolan concluded.
