Come and see the wildflowers in the Warrumbungle Region

Conditions are perfect for an early and expected abundant flush of wildflowers to appear in the Warrumbungle region, so now is the time to plan your next visit to take in the stunning sights.

“Recent rain followed by sunshine makes ideal weather for a plentiful display of wildflowers to come out early this year,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “Wildflowers have already been spotted in both the Warrumbungle National Park and Pilliga Forest, setting the scene for a spectacular Spring display.”

There is a range of places to take in wildflower displays this Spring. Some of the best locations for the flowers are Whitegum lookout, Burbie Canyon Track and Wambelong Nature Track in the Warrumbungle National Park, or Sculptures in the Scrub, Salt Caves and Sandstone Caves in the Pilliga Forest.

“September is shaping up to be the perfect time to get out and about in the Warrumbungle Region, experience the wildflower season and make the most of our picturesque National Parks,” said Cr Doolan.

“Travellers to the area and locals alike who are planning an outing to see the wildflowers will be spoilt for choice with plenty of other events on offer. The events calendar on the Warrumbungle Region website is filled with upcoming arts and sporting events, details on the Warrumbungle National Park Discovery Program, and then the annual Star Fest events over the October long weekend,” explained Cr Doolan.

“We are very lucky to be home to a number of places that come to life with wildflowers, so with conditions right for an amazing show of the flowers now is a fantastic time to visit the Warrumbungle Region,” concluded Cr Doolan.
