During December 2024 there are many exciting community events happening right across the Shire, inviting both locals and visitors to join in the holiday celebrations. “These festive events are a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the season with our local community, as well as visitors to our beautiful region,” said Warrumbungle Shire Mayor, Councillor Kathryn Rindfleish. “Communities have worked hard to organise a range of activities that will bring joy to all ages, from Christmas-themed entertainment and market stalls to fireworks displays and movie nights.” From early to mid-December, a variety of day and night events will be held, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Highlights will include market stalls with unique gifts perfect for holiday shopping, outdoor activities, movie nights under the stars and weather permitting, a fireworks display that will light up the sky, adding extra festive cheer to the celebrations. “These events are about more than just fun—they’re about creating connections, supporting local businesses, and building a sense of community,” Cr Rindfleish explained. “With local artisans and vendors offering their crafts and Christmas gifts, attendees can shop locally and directly support our region's economy while enjoying everything our towns have to offer.” Event details, including specific locations and times, will be posted on community Facebook pages and the Warrumbungle Region website under the Event Tab. As many of the events are outdoors and weather-dependent, residents and visitors are advised to check the forecast and stay informed about any changes. Additionally, pet owners are encouraged to secure their pets indoors or in a quiet area during fireworks displays to ensure their safety. “We invite everyone to join in the festive celebrations across the region this December, to shop locally, support regional businesses, and create special memories with family and friends,” Cr Rindfleish concluded.
