Calling for Swimming Pool Attendants

Council is calling for people to sign up to be part of the team, delivering quality aquatic services to our communities this spring and summer.

“Pool Attendants are an important part of the Warrumbungle Shire workforce because they contribute to public safety and work directly with community members,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “With swimming season starting in October each year, we really need members of our communities to look closely at this fantastic opportunity to ensure our pools can continue to play an important role in supporting community life. Without a good supply of pool attendants, there is a real risk of not being able to open some pools at various times throughout the season, as has been seen in previous years.”

Pool Attendants are responsible for maintaining public safety. Council is calling for people who can achieve this and who are willing to learn how to operate pool plant and equipment, test water to ensure compliance with health standards, and clean and/or maintain pool grounds and amenities.

Council will pay for successful candidates to attain their Lifeguard Certification if they do not have one. The pay rate is generous too, with the starting salary at $26.21 per hour plus 25% casual loading and penalty rates on Saturdays and Sundays.

Council public swimming pools are located at Baradine, Binnaway, Coolah, Coonabarabran, Dunedoo and Mendooran and the season traditionally commences in October 2022 and concludes in March 2023.

“If you enjoy working outdoors with an interest in swimming, water safety and public recreation or know someone who does this is an opportunity for you,” Cr Doolan concluded.

If you would like to speak with someone about the opportunity please contact Manager Urban Services and Facilities, Nicole Benson on (02) 6849 2000.
