Buy Local this Holiday Season

Christmas is rapidly drawing closer and is the most important time of the year for most retailers. Now more than ever is a time to shop local.

“This year it is more important than ever to support our local businesses who have endured the worst drought in decades, and now the COVID-19 Pandemic. Let’s come together as a community, help out where we can and purchase Christmas gifts locally,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan.

“Our region, has a fantastic range of businesses from flower arrangements, clothes, distilleries, cheeses, pickles and jams, meats, arts and crafts just to name a few,” said Cr Doolan. “There are also gift vouchers that can be purchased at hardware stores, cafés and pubs, beauty and hair salons, accommodation and other services.”

“Residents and visitors to our region need to remember this holiday season that by shopping local you’re contributing directly to our local community allowing the money to go straight into each local town benefiting the whole Shire.”

“If you have friends and family visiting the region over the holidays encourage them to pick up brochures from the Visitor Information Centre and take a trip to our local attractions. We are fortunate to have two National Parks and State Forest on our doorstep, along with the unique experiences, attractions and events in each town and village,” said Cr Doolan.

“Encouraging residents and visitors to buy gifts and support services from our local businesses in Warrumbungle Shire, where possible, will be a gift in itself to our entire region, concluded Cr Doolan.
