Baradine Water Main Replacement

Work on the replacement of a section of water main in Baradine is continuing over the coming weeks. ‚Äč

“Council will be replacing a 400m section of the water main along Namoi Street, Baradine, between Walker Street and Wellington Street”, said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Denis Todd. “This section of water main forms part of the Warrumbungle Water’s capital works program.”

“This section of pipe has had frequent breaks in the past, potentially causing supply interruptions and increased operational expenditure, as well as unpredicted water loss and in this current drought that is something no community can afford”, said Cr Todd.

“During these works, a 100m section of the replacement main will be under bored, using polyethylene pipe (poly) and the remaining 300m will be replaced with PVC pipe which will be an upgrade from the previous materials”, explained Cr Todd.

“With these upgrades and using these new materials Council will ensure that this water main will be able to service the Baradine community into the future.”

Cr Todd said, “Community members who will experience supply interruptions throughout these works will be notified via door knock, either on the morning of the works or on the previous day prior to works commencing.”

“This project is expected to be completed by late October 2019” concluded Cr Todd.
