Alfresco Dining Rebate for Small Businesses

Warrumbungle Shire Council is encouraging local hospitality businesses to apply for the NSW Government’s Alfresco Restart Rebate.

“The NSW Government is offering the Alfresco Dining Rebate package to help small businesses recover from the impacts of COVID-19 and associated restrictions,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “The rebate can be used for a range of outdoor dining expenses purchased between 14 October 2021 and 30 April 2022 such as furniture, umbrellas and mobile boards.”

“Businesses across the local government area (LGA) are encouraged to apply for this great rebate to assist with the creation of a welcoming streetscape for our communities,” said Cr Doolan.

Once eligible businesses are registered they must collect receipts for eligible expenses they incur and lodge them as a single claim when the rebate opens in late February 2022.

Business owners wishing to place items on the footpath will require Council approval under the Council’s Business Use of Footpath policy and guidelines, which can be found on Council’s website.

There are some exemptions for outdoor dining on footpaths, so to see if you’re eligible for exemption go to Exempt Development - Warrumbungle Shire Council (nsw.gov.au).
For more information on business use of footpaths and exemptions contact Council’s Town Planner, Kelly Dewar on (02) 6849 200.

“This is a great opportunity for our small businesses across the LGA who are eligible and will assist on the road to recovery,” Cr Doolan concluded.
