A new look for the Coonabarabran Visitors Information Centre
The Coonabarabran Visitor Information Centre (VIC) has undergone a significant makeover and has given the interior a refreshing new look.
“Throughout the past couple of months renovations and upgrades have been in full swing at the Coonabarabran VIC, giving the retail front area a fresh face for visitors,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “The renovations have now been completed and the transformation is refreshing, creating an inviting space for visitors and residents of the Warrumbungle Shire.”
New features include painted interior walls, new merchandise displays, an expanded range of local produce from around the Warrumbungle Region, technology to book accommodation, charging station, seating areas, screen displaying our amazing attractions around the region and new automatic doors. Where possible local businesses and contractors were utilised for the renovations, and Council would like to thank them for their incredible service and talent.
Mid renovations it became apparent the mural could be revitalised. Whilst the mural of the Warrumbungles is currently protected by boards it has been planned for the original artist to revitalise the mural with her amazing talent and continue displaying the mural. Once refreshed the mural will be uncovered, bringing an extra element to this wonderful face-lift.
“This new look has now provided a warm welcoming space to invite travelers and residents come in to a relaxing and comfortable space while discovering the region by planning their trip,” said Cr Doolan.
Coonabarabran’ s VIC is a great one-stop-shop for visitors and residents in the region, providing information on things to see and do across the region while stocking and selling some incredible locally source produce. “I would encourage everyone to visit the new and improved VIC, check out the locally produced merchandise and products, and grab an ‘Escape’ Warrumbungle Region brochure,” said Cr Doolan.
The Coonabarabran Visitor Information Centre is located on the Newell Highway, Coonabarabran and can be contacted by calling (02) 6849 2144.
