Local feedback will help shape plans for new and improved infrastructure in Dunedoo, under a $5.6 million commitment announced today. The Federal and State Governments are redirecting funding towards new infrastructure renewal projects for the Dunedoo community, following the significant delays and ongoing legal issues with the Three Rivers Retirement Village project. Acting Premier Paul Toole said local feedback would help shape plans for infrastructure upgrades that will support the local economy and improve the liveability of the town. “We recognise the issues surrounding the Three Rivers Retirement Village project have been difficult for the community, and we’ll continue working closely with Warrumbungle Shire Council and local stakeholders to ensure we fund projects that the community supports,” Mr Toole said. “This reprioritised funding is about finding a good outcome from an unfortunate situation, and we’ll take the time to listen to those who know this area best to ensure the town gets the infrastructure it deserves. “This may be in the form of a new retirement facility closer to the centre of town, sporting oval upgrades, footpaths or other potential projects.” Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton said this will be welcomed by the Dunedoo community. “Like the residents of Dunedoo, I’m disappointed that the Three Rivers Retirement Village project has unfortunately fallen through, but I’m pleased to be working with the NSW Government and Warrumbungle Shire Council to get an outcome that will be a positive move for the community,” Mr Coulton said. “I look forward to seeing what projects the community puts forward.” Minister for Western NSW Dugald Saunders said the funding was a great example of all three tiers of government working together to deliver for regional communities. “We are working hard to get this money out the door, and plan on having the amenity and service infrastructure upgrades determined by mid-2022,” Mr Saunders said. “The NSW Government continues to invest in improving community infrastructure in our regions, which support local jobs and improve liveability for locals.” Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor Ambrose Doolan said Council will work with the community to determine which projects are ultimately funded. “This is a great outcome for Dunedoo and we look forward to working with the Australian and NSW governments over the coming months to develop and present some exciting ideas to the community,” Cr Doolan said. The Department of Regional NSW will lead the consultation process in partnership with Warrumbungle Shire Council.
