2022 Waste 2 Art

Waste 2 Art is here again and all local artists are encouraged to get creative with materials that would normally be thrown out.

“Council, alongside SPACE Gallery and Net Waste will be working together to present the Waste 2 Art community art exhibition and competition,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “The theme for 2022 is soft plastics which would normally be considered waste.”

“There are multiple categories including primary school, high school, community, professional artist, and ‘Our Indigenous Heritage’. The winner of ‘Our Indigenous Heritage’ will receive a cash prize and certificate,” Cr Doolan explained.

“The local competition for Warrumbungle Shire will be exhibited at SPACE Gallery, Dalgarno Street, Coonabarabran. Winners artworks from the local competition will be transported to the Regional Exhibition in Lithgow, later on in the year.”

All Artworks that are to be submitted into the Waste 2 Art competition need to be completed by 25 April 2022, and delivered to SPACE Gallery by 30 April 2022. The wonderful Art Exhibition will open on 1 May 2022 with winners announced.

“This is an amazing initiative and these artworks raise great awareness about the challenges surrounding waste, aiming to encourage the reduction of waste in our communities,” Cr Doolan concluded.

All artists who wish to submit an artwork will be required to fill out an entry form, which can be found on Council’s website, under the events tab. Conditions and restrictions may apply.
