Project Overview

Council received funding for this project through the NSW Government Stronger Country Communities Fund – Round Two to upgrade the lighting at Bowen Oval, Dunedoo which aims to increase sporting participation and facility utilisation by improving infrastructure in accordance with the Bowen Oval Master Development Plan.

These aims will be achieved by providing new lighting to the netball courts, touch football/training oval, and playground, and upgrade existing lighting to the main oval, tennis courts, and grand stand. Additionally, a new electronic scoreboard is also being installed replacing the existing manual scoreboard.

The Bowen Oval Lighting upgrade is proudly funded through by the NSW Government in association with Warrumbungle Shire Council.

Project Update

July 2019

Installation of the electronic digital scoreboard took place in June, which means the Bowen Oval Lighting Upgrade project is now complete. The new digital scoreboard is the first of its kind in the Warrumbungle Shire area.

The Bowen Oval project included installation of new lighting for the netball courts, training field, warm up area behind the grandstand, and playground lighting. Additionally, the lighting on the main playing field, the grandstand and the tennis courts was also upgraded throughout this project.

The project has delivered much needed lighting infrastructure for all sporting and recreational areas of the Bowen Oval sporting complex. These upgrades will increase utilisation of the facility by current users and encourage new users to take advantage of the facilities at Bowen Oval.
