Work continues on the Three Rivers Regional Retirement Community

Over the past months the Three Rivers Retirement Regional Retirement Community (TRRRC) project has been making progress under the supervision of Warrumbungle Shire Council.

The concept of a retirement facility based in Dunedoo has been an ongoing goal for the residents of Dunedoo and surrounds for many years. Construction of the facility is currently underway to build 21 retirement units, a community centre and outdoor living classroom at a total cost of $7.87M. These works are being undertaken on the site of the old Dunedoo War Memorial Hospital.

Tenders for the project were called during 2017 with the successful contractor Boulus Constructions being appointed with works commencing late 2017 with an expected completion by December 2018.

Since commencement Council has been monitoring the progress of the project and unfortunately there have been significant delays caused by the Contractor not complying with the Contract. Unfortunately Council is now in a contractual dispute with the Contractor to resolve those issues.

Council is well aware of the importance of the facility to Dunedoo but it is vitally important that the community have a facility that it is proud of.

While there is a dispute occurring works are continuing to proceed on site with a number of tradespersons onsite over the past weeks including concreters, carpenters, roofers and plumbers.

All progress payments due under the contract are currently paid up by Council to the contractor. Council will continue to pay progress payments as they fall due and in accordance with the contract.

Council is wanting the best outcome for the Dunedoo community and is endeavouring to resolve these issues with the best outcome for the community in mind.
