Softfall Upgrades for Council Playgrounds

Work on upgrading two popular playgrounds in the Warrumbungle Local Government Area have commenced with modern softfall being installed.

“Len Guy Park, Binnaway features seating and shelter, a cenotaph, public amenities and playground equipment which is utilised by the community and people travelling through Binnaway on a regular basis” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Denis Todd said,  “This park is a great asset to Binnaway however the existing softfall surrounding the play equipment has deteriorated in recent years and is now requiring repair.”

Cr Todd said, “Milling Park, Dunedoo is utilised all year round by community members and people travelling through Dunedoo. The playground swings are situated in the park between Tallawang Street and Wallaroo Street. There is currently a softfall mulch style surface around the swing set which is substandard and also requires replacing.”

“Council budgeted $70,000 for these projects in the 2018/19 Capital Works Program.

“The completed works in the playgrounds at Binnaway and Dunedoo will not only improve safety but will also be visually attractive for children, community members and visitors, which will help encourage greater utilisation of the playgrounds and park areas in both communities”, Cr Todd concluded.

Works in both areas are scheduled for completion during May 2019.
