Kerb and Guttering program completed in Binnaway

There was considerable activity in Bullinda Street, Binnaway in the lead up to Christmas with staff from Warrumbungle Shire Council constructing kerb and guttering for a section of the street.

Council's Acting Director Technical Services, Shane Weatherall said, "the planned works have now been completed in Bullinda Street with kerb and guttering installed between Napier and Ulinda Street".

"The works were completed by Council's concrete crew and they have done a great job", he said.

Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Denis Todd said, "I'm pleased to see the first part of the kerb and guttering works completed in Binnaway. It was great to have these works completed last December on one of the main streets in the town".

"The new concrete kerb and guttering in Bullinda Street has not only improved the appearance of the street but it will also improve the drainage".

"The town of Binnaway has always been recognised as having neat and tidy streets and this new kerb and guttering will help to contribute to this", said Cr Todd.

Mr Weatherall said, "while completing these works, Council also did some work on the road shoulder, including bitumen sealing".

"A particular challenge with the works in Bullinda Street Binnaway is the flat terrain" said Mr Weatherall. "To get water to run where it needed to go the kerb and guttering had to be constructed on a very flat grade and therefore some additional works needed to be completed".

Cr Todd said, "Council's kerb and guttering program for Binnaway doesn't stop with Bullinda Street. New kerb and guttering is also planned for Railway Street between Napier Street and Ulinda Street with the works due to commence in early 2019".

"I'm keen to see these works completed for the residents of Binnaway", said Cr Todd. "Hopefully we'll soon see some rain that will test this new kerb and guttering out".
