Interest for a Coonabarabran Town Beautification Committee

Representations have been made to Warrumbungle Shire Council to re-establish the Coonabarabran Town Committee and Councillor Kodi Brady has been charged with the task of determining the level of interest.

“At Community Consultation Meeting in Coonabarabran in November last year interest was shown by members of the public for the re-establishment of the Committee” said Councillor Denis Todd, Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor. “This interest was shown again at the April Council meeting when representations were made by local resident, Mrs Judy Clancy.”

“As a result of these representations Council has resolved to authorise Cr Brady to meet with local people who may be interested in forming a committee and report back to Council” said Cr Todd.

Councillor Brady said “Coonabarabran is a wonderful town and there is great potential here. There is also a great opportunity for the residents of Coonabarabran to step up and take pride in developing the town.”

“Since being a councillor I have seen how other communities across the local government area have worked at a local level in developing and beautifying their towns. At this stage I see such a committee not being a committee of Council but instead an opportunity for a local group to take the lead and work with Council to improve the look of Coonabarabran.”

“Projects like this are most successful with the community takes the lead.”

“A meeting of interested persons is to be held in the Council Chambers on Monday 13 May 2019 at 5.00pm to gauge the interest by the community and I would welcome residents to come along” concluded Cr Brady.
