Easing of Water Restrictions

Due to a number of factors Warrumbungle Shire Council has made the decision to ease water restriction levels in Baradine, Binnaway, Coolah, Dunedoo and Mendooran.

Warrumbungle Shire Council Acting Mayor, Cr Aniello Iannuzzi said, “With cooling weather conditions reducing demand, stable river and bore well water levels, pool closures as well as the recent relieving rainfalls across the Shire area, Council has made the decision to ease water restrictions in a number of towns, effective today.”

“Binnaway, Coolah, Dunedoo and Mendooran have all been eased to level 1 water restrictions as at Monday 1 April 2019”, said Cr Iannuzzi.

“As Baradine were on Level 1 water restrictions Council has been able to relieve all water restrictions from Baradine, therefore Baradine are no longer on any form of water restrictions.”

Cr Iannuzzi said, “Coonabarabran remains on level 4 water restrictions. Despite an increase in dam level after the recent rainfalls, the township currently still relies on 100% groundwater from the old and new backup bores and further easing this level of water restrictions cannot yet be justified.”

“The decision to ease water restrictions has not been made lightly and Council will continue to monitor both demand and water levels closely”, said Cr Iannuzzi.

Please note that all new water restriction notices, including Coonabarabran now have a change in watering hours which will reflect the change in daylight hours.

Current water restriction notices will be distributed via letter box drop to households in Binnaway, Coolah, Coonabarabran, Dunedoo and Mendooran; they are also available on Council’s website at www.warrumbungle.nsw.gov.au and a copy can be collected from the Coonabarabran and/or Coolah Council offices.
