Drought Communities Programme - Community Forums

Warrumbungle Shire Council is calling on members of local communities to let us know your ideas for projects to be funded under the Drought Communities Programme.

On 19 August 2018, the Australian Government announced $75 million for the Drought Communities Programme to support communities impacted by drought. Council has been advised that this program is now open for applications. Under this funding program, each Eligible Council can receive funding for projects up to $1 million.

To help determine what projects should be funded in Warrumbungle Shire, Council will be holding two (2) community forums this week.

The first Community Forum will be held in Dunedoo on Wednesday, 10 October 2018, from 5:30pm – 7:30pm at Jubilee Hall, Dunedoo.

The second Community Forum will be held in Coonabarabran on Thursday, 11 October 2018, from 5:30pm – 7:30pm in the Gallery Meeting Room at Warrumbungle Shire Council.

The Community Forums will be hosted by Mayor Denis Todd.

Community Forums will provide information on:

• The Drought Communities Programme including processes, grant amount, grant periods and grants available
• Project duration
• Eligibility criteria, including eligible grant activities and expenditure
• The selection process

The Community Forums will also discuss ideas for projects to be funded under the Drought Communities Programme. Ideas will then be collated and further community consultation will take place once a list of project ideas has been received.

If you can't attend the Community Forums, please send your ideas for projects to be funded under the Drought Communities Programme to Council no later than 4:30pm on Friday, 12 October 2018.

Ideas can be submitted via mail to Warrumbungle Shire Council, PO Box 191, Coonabarabran NSW 2357, email to Claudia.Westoby@warrumbungle.nsw.gov.au or delivered in person to Council Offices in Coonabarabran or Coolah.  Submissions should include a reference to the Drought Communities Programme as the subject of your submission.
