Creating a Greater Connection for the Warrumbungle region

Exciting news for residents in the Warrumbungle Shire Area, with funding from the Federal Government residents in the shire area will soon be better connected.

Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Denis Todd said, “In a recent announcement, the Federal Government has granted Warrumbungle Shire Council with $56,930 to install free WiFi in all six (6) towns across the shire, as part of the Drought Communitties Programme.”

“This project will allow Council to provide a Free WiFi service in Baradine, Binnaway, Coonabarabran, Coolah, Dunedoo and Mendooran with the aim to stimulate local community, boost the local economies and provide long lasting benefits to the community as well as travellers visiting the wonderful towns Warrumbungle Shire area has to offer”, said Cr Todd. 

Cr Todd said, “Council has been successful in gaining over $940,000 worth of funding through the Drought Communities Programme which will stimulate local community spending by using local resources, business, suppliers, and workers, and provide sustainable benefits for the communities across the Shire.” 

Projects which have been successfully funded through the DCP (announced in March) include; 

the installation of banner poles and the purchase of banners for a further three

towns in the Shire; 
construction of aerodrome fences at Baradine and Coonabarabran; 
construction of a bore at Coonabarabran Showground;
swimming pool upgrades at Binnaway and Dunedoo; 
campground upgrades at Binnaway; and 
an employment and infrastructure program which will see upgrades completed at

Baradine Hall, Binnaway Hall, Coolah Recreation Grounds, Coonabarabran

Town Hall, Neilson Park in Coonabarabran, the Main Street in Coolah, Cemeteries

across the Shire and the Mendooran Mechanics Institute.

“It is great to see that the projects which have been funded will benefit all the local communities in our Shire and will provide a bit of a boost during these tough times”, concluded Cr Todd.
