Council signs new agreement with Service NSW

In great news for local communities in Warrumbungle Shire, Council has signed an agreement for the ongoing provision of Service NSW services in both Coolah and Coonabarabran.

With endorsement from Council, Warrumbungle Shire Council has signed a three year Agency Agreement with the State Government for Service NSW agencies to continue at both Council offices.

Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Peter Shinton said, “Council has been an Agency for the Roads and Maritime Service (RMS) in Coolah for many years, enabling the Coolah community to conduct their business locally. Several years ago the RMS Agency was re-badged as Service NSW”.

Cr Shinton continued, “The new Service NSW Agency in Coolah has been running successfully for more than three years and in 2016 Council entered into an Agency Agreement for a Service NSW outlet in Coonabarabran. The Coonabarabran Agency has been operating successfully for the last two years and will now be in place for another three”.

Cr Shinton said, “Service NSW Agencies are a great asset to the Shire area as they enable residents to conduct their business locally. If these agencies were not in the Shire residents would have to travel up to 100 kilometers to the nearest Service NSW agency.”

“Service NSW is a ‘one-stop shop’ for a large variety of NSW Government transactions. In 2017/18 the Coonabarabran Service NSW Agency completed 16,900 transactions with the Coolah Service NSW Agency completing more than 4,500 transactions. This is more than 21,000 transactions in a year across the Shire”, said Cr Shinton.

“It is great to have this ongoing service in our local communities. Renewing this agreement is an important reminder to support our local services as they provide local employment opportunities and a boost to our local economies”, said Cr Shinton.

Cr Shinton noted, “with the amount of transactions that were completed at the Coolah and Coonabarabran Service NSW Agencies there is a clear need for this service in our local towns. We are very pleased to have been able to secure this service for another three years”.
