Is your dog chained without enough room to move? Is your dog under exercised or not exercised at all? Is your dog untrained, lonely or sick? Is your dog kept in circumstances that are unsuitable for that particular breed? These are some of the causes of why dogs bark unreasonably. It is the dog owner’s responsibility to ensure that any nuisance barking is controlled. Remember it is also your responsibility to ensure your dog is cared for, prevented from escaping from your property and is microchipped and registered with the department of local government. In the coming weeks Council officers will be commencing a Shire-wide door-knock campaign to work with the residents to ensure that the legal requirements of microchipping and registration are complied with. This campaign will assist Council in their services to the community and in accurately identifying the number of dogs and companion animals living in the village areas of the Shire. more ..
