More than 12 months on from the devastating Sir Ivan Fire, the Warrumbungle Shire Mayors Bushfire (Sir Ivan) Appeal is starting to wrap up. Under the guidance of representatives from local communities, the $200,000 raised by the Warrumbungle Shire Mayors Bushfire (Sir Ivan) Appeal has been distributed to those affected by the devastating fire in February 2017.
Coonabarabran Sporting Complex Maintenance Program

With the cooler months approaching, bringing Winter sports competition with them, Council is ensuring that the playing fields in Warrumbungle Shire are maintained to their usual high standard. Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Cr Peter Shinton said, “As part of the Sporting Complex annual maintenance schedule Council will be sowing ryegrass at Number 1 and Number 3 Ovals in Coonabarabran during April.”

With the water level at Timor Dam lower than it has ever been the town water supply in Coonabarabran is under significant pressure. “Everyone is aware of the dire situation we are currently in with relation to the town water supply”, says Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Peter Shinton. “If there is anything positive about this situation it is how everyone is pulling together and making a real effort to save water and limit their water usage”. “On behalf of Council, I’d like to say thank you to the residents of Coonabarabran for their water saving efforts and for taking this situation so seriously”, said Cr Shinton.

Easter Closures

Please be advised that the Warrumbungle Shire Council Administration Offices in Coonabarabran and Coolah will be closed on Good Friday, 30 March 2018 and Easter Monday, 2 April 2018. Other Council Services including Services NSW will also be closed on these days. Offices will re-open Tuesday, 3 April 2018 at 8:30am. In the event of an emergency, please call (02) 6849 2000 or (02) 6378 5000 and you will be put through to Council’s After Hours Service.
Works continuing on alternative water supply for Coonabarabran

Preparation of alternative water sources for the Coonabarabran water supply is continuing with investigations underway in to the establishment of a number of new bores.
