Bins and Recyclable Products

Bin placement for collection

  • Have handles and wheels of your bin facing your house
  • Place the bin on footpath about half a metre from back of kerb
  • Do not place bin behind parked cars or near trees or other obstructions
  • Don’t overfill you bin or place anything on top of your bin
  • Place your bin out the evening before collection
  • 240 litre wheelie bins and under are acceptable

What cannot go in the bin

  • Hot ashes
  • Bulky or heavy yard and builders waste
  • Chemical and liquids (eg solvents and paint)
  • Toxic, corrosive or flammable materials

Damaged or stolen bins

Replacement bins are available from Council for the scheduled fee.

Extra bins

In the case where more than one bin is needed, another service can be requested from Council with the cost being added to your rate notice.  Residents are responsible for the purchase and maintenance of wheelie bins used for garbage services.
